Jotdog's Favorite SUBWAY® Sandwich

Maria: Pizza Sub
Chiquis: Meatball Marinara

Jotdog originated from the joy of making music, having fun while creating and connecting with people; for the pleasure of sharing music with a public thirsty for new, witty and authentic tunes.

Such is luck that two well known musicians within the Mexican music scene met back in 2006 and formed one of the most innovative musical concepts of recent years.

"Chiquis" Amaro was already a big name in Mexico after having played with local classic rock bands such as Neón, Fobia, Kenny y los Eléctricos and Rostros Ocultos, where he showcased his talent as a drummer. However, he had greater ambitions and later became a music producer, sound engineer, songwriter, and creative producer for numerous bands and artists, such as Natalia Lafourcade, Timbiriche, Moenia, Maná, Ricardo Arjona, Danna Paola, M5, Panteón Rococó, Cuca, La Lupita, Víctimas del Dr. Cerebro, Moderatto, Belanova, Intocable and later, María Barracuda.

On the other hand, María Barracuda, the girl who shows up on stage dressed up as a post-modern geisha, sometimes with a semi-kimono costume and at others, with a Star Trek-inspired dress, but always with colorful makeup á la Grace Jones, did not know Chiquis when she came out of Ciudad Juárez, but she was determined to do whatever she was passionate about, and her passion was music. Without even suspecting it, that simple fact increased her chances of running one day into Chiquis Amaro.

The duet has become a musical phenomenon among public and music critics by fusing their work with the talent of two great musicians. The incredible success of Jotdog is in great part due to their visual image; from their extravagant wardrobe to their music videos, which have reached top rankings in music channels and on the web, as is the case with YouTube and MySpace Mexico, which named Jotdog one of the "hottest" bands of the moment.

Jotdog performed their first mass audience concert in Mexico City on September, 2010 at the José Vive Cuervo Salón, with an audience surpassing 2,000 people.

Their first single, "Hasta Contar A Mil", reached Top 10 national radio and became #1 in sales of iTunes Mexico.

The music video for this single was among the most voted videos in MTV Latin America, earning Jotdog a nomination at MTV Latin America Awards for "Best New Artist" (North). Jotdog also received a nomination at Premios Telehit 2009 for "Best New Artist", a nomination at 40 Principales radio awards for "Best International Band-Mexico" and a nomination at Kid‟s Choice Awards Mexico in the category of "Artist or Band of the Year".

In 2010 Jotdog reached a top moment in their career with two nominations at the 11th Annual Latin Grammy Awards for "Best New Artist" and "Best Pop Album".

The list of success grew even larger at the end of 2010 when Jotdog won the prestigious Oye! Award for "Best New Artist" after being nominated in the categories of Pop Band (Spanish) category and the Best New Artist.

After just two weeks of receiving the Oye! Award, the band added one more trophy to their collection after being recognized as "Best New Artist" at the Premios Telehit awards ceremony.

After a very tight voting from their Twitter followers, Jotdog finally chose its latest single, "Las Pequeñas Cosas", which marks a new stage in the band’s career. In early 2011, Jotdog released a special a special edition of their first album.

In the first trimester of 2011, Chiquis and María Barracuda have been working in the first stages of what will be Jotdog´s new studio album, to be out in stores later in the year.
