Roméo Testa's Favorite SUBWAY® Sandwich

Chicken & Bacon Ranch on Italian Herbs and Cheese bread

Born on the beach of Montezuma, Costa Rica- March 16th, 1995 where he spent the first few years of his life. Listening to the orchestra of critters and howler monkeys sing, he preferred sound to silence his first months- so much so that his favorite spot to sleep was in a hammock, while music blared from his the speakers of his parent's restaurant. He showed great music appreciation early on by banging bongos before he was able to crawl.

At age three, Roméo relocated from Costa Rica to Silverlake, California. He grew up listening to the music his parents enjoyed: oldies, soul, world music, gospel, blues, and classical. "My parents were very supportive of my love of music early on. My Father took me to shows and taught me the basics of guitar. I was introduced to Rock & Roll by a girl I had a crush on in elementary school, that sound has had a strong influence on how I write today."

At seven, Roméo expressed interest in violin, thus began his classical training with Harmony project, a non profit music program that provides music education to inner city youth. Roméo received a full scholarship the past nine years playing violin while adding the viola to his classical repertoire. Through this program he was able to further his studies via a scholarship to Interlocken Music School, Michigan learning music composition and furthering his viola technique.

At eight, Roméo immersed himself in learning guitar, bass, mandolin, and harmonica. It was not until his brother, Danielle, passed away from cancer at the age of nine that he was inspired to write his first song. Entitled "Hey Ma'am" it reflected not only the loss of his brother but his understanding of the world surrounding the events of 9/11.

Now, at the ripe old age of 16, Roméo has been signed to Columbia Records. He is busying himself writing and recording what will be his first record. Even with this hectic schedule he continues his academic requirements, all be it from home, as well as mentoring other inner city youth in viola and guitar so to give back to the same community that nurtured his musical growth.
